Coach who shielded students dies

The football coach who shielded students when a gunman opened fire at a Florida school has died.

Aaron Feis was an assistant football coach and security guard at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

According to people at the scene, Feis shielded students with his own body when a teen, identified as a former student at the school, opened fire, killing more than a dozen people and injuring many others.

Nikolas Cruz, 19, currently faces 17 counts of murder. It was unclear if Feis was among that number.

In a tweet from the football team’s Twitter account they said that Feis “died a hero and he will forever be in our hearts and memories.”
